September 2nd-5th – Hopkington State Fair, Hopkington NH
September 3rd – Nearer to Nature Walks, Squam Lakes Science Center, Holderness NH
Squam Lake’s Nearer to Nature Walks, great for adults and older teens, focus on Science Center Naturalist Margaret Gillespie’s recently published book, “Nearer to Nature.” The book walks you through the seasons, delving into nature’s mysteries. Join Margaret to explore the local flora and fauna at one or more places.
On September 3, the walk explores the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center.
The Science Center encompasses 200 acres but many delightful spots are off trail or seldom seen. Explore lesser known sites at the Science Center and conclude with a wildlife visit from an animal whose relatives roam the surroundings when all is quiet.
Walks are $7 for members and $9 for non-members.
September 3rd & 4th – 27th Annual Labor Day Craft Fair at the Bay, Alton Bay NH
Free admission and free parking. Festival hours are Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This event is held rain or shine. Alton Bay is accessible by boat on Lake Winnipesaukee!
September 9th-11th – 27th Annual Hampton Beach Seafood Festival, Hampton Beach NH
Featuring 60 restaurants serving an abundance of seafood and much more plus hundreds of merchants with end-of-season sidewalk sales, 80 arts and crafts vendors, a lobster roll eating competition, kiddie land, culinary chef demonstrations, continuous entertainment on two stages with styles from rock to reggae, the Beach Cabana Bar will also live entertainment, there will be a fireworks show and a sky diving extravaganza.
Free shuttle service and parking at over 12 satellite parking lots. Friday and Sunday $5 admission, Saturday $8 admission, children under 12 free.
September 16th-18th – NH Highland Games, Lincoln NH
Watch the world’s best compete in ancient sports lik the caber toss, take in highland dance competition and enjoy rollicking festival events like the kilted race and weekend-long live music. And keep your eyes peeled for our Best of NH Editor’s Pick for Best Celebrity Cameo: an appearance from Game of Thrones’ The Mountain, Thor Bjornsson.
September 17th – White Mountains Brewer’s Festival, Plymouth NH
The 2nd Annual White Mountains Brewers’ Festival is a fun-filled event that benefits the Skatepark of Plymouth. Several local New Hampshire breweries will be attending the event while serving samples of their delicious brews! Accompanied by the local craft beer, the live music performances will kick the festival into gear! Come join us for a pre-tasting before the event or stay for the entire day! There will also be a silent auction, raffling off local New Hampshire gifts and much more!
