Holderness is small town that offers year round adventure for people of all ages. Named New Holderness in 1761, the new was dropped from the name in 1816 and Holdernesss had become a community that relied on the beautiful Squam Lake. Still a focal point of the community, Holderness is an amazing summer destination where boating, fishing and sailing rule. Holderness is home to the Squam Lakes Science Center, the Holderness School and the only restaurant on the Squam Lakes, Walter’s Basin. Located in close proximity to the White Mountains, Holderness also has plenty of hiking, biking and camping in the summer months to keep everyone happy.
